About Rose

Rose Berelowitz is a 21 year old soprano from Brighton.
Currently studying at The Royal Northern College of Music under teacher Thomas Schulze, Rose first started singing with the Brighton Festival Youth Choir when she was 11. With this choir she has performed in The Brighton Festival and in venues such as The Brighton Dome, being successful in several choral competitions. A particular highlight for Rose was working with composer John Rutter, performing his Mass of the Children to celebrate the works of John Tavener.
At age 12 she became a member of Glyndebourne Youth Opera. Rose has performed in numerous Glyndebourne Youth Opera main-stage productions including: Tycho’s Dream (2014), Nothing (2016), Belongings (2017) and Agreed (2019). Rose then became a Glyndebourne Junior Artist in 2018-19. She has also sung with the Glyndebourne Chorus and The Sixteen on multiple occasions. In 2020, Rose was selected by Glyndebourne to work with composer Jonathan Dove, performing an original composition with other experienced musicians, giving Rose the opportunity to perform during a Covid-19 lockdown- a practise she had greatly missed.
More recently, Rose was awarded runner up in the prestigious Dame Felicity Lott Recital Competition in April 2022. She looks forward to participating in further competitions as her career continues.
In May 2022, Rose was selected to assist in coaching the children’s chorus for the annual RNCM Children’s Opera. This year's production is based loosely on the classic novel: The Secret Garden. Rose thoroughly enjoyed this experience and has aspirations of working on further youth opera projects as she develops her skills as a music teacher and educator.
Also in May of this year, Rose was a member of the chorus for the semi-staged production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at Bridgewater Hall, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. This opportunity meant Rose worked alongside some of the exceptionally talented Royal Opera House Jette Parker Artists, a scheme which has always been an inspiration to her.
In September, Rose will begin rehearsals as a chorus member for RNCM’s production of Die Fledermaus by Strauss.
Rose has aspirations of furthering her musicality and establishing herself as a professional Opera and Oratorio performer.
